Introduction

Many virtual web hosting services provide mail facilities by delivering all mail for a domain to a single user account. On systems using MTAs (Mail Transport Agents) such as qmail with good support for virtual domains this is very useful.

mdforward was written to allow sites using sendmail similar functionality when the most popular tool, procmail, proved to be inadequate for the job.

Of particular interest was supporting relatively non-technical users who were struggling with procmail.
